May 2012

Greetings Comrades:

Congratulations to all the newly elected officers for next year, 2012-2013.

Remember May 5th is the 10th District meeting at our Post. The meeting starts at 1:30 p.m. It would be nice to have a real good showing.

The smoking ban will be the topic of conversation, as it should be. As we have discussed, the way it stands now we will vote on whether to be a smoking or non-smoking Post at the June regular meeting.

Our membership as of this writing is 91% and we need 43 members to pay their dues to obtain 100% for this year. If you know of anyone that needs to pay their dues, please help and ask them to do so.

Thank You for your help!

As always, have a good month

and enjoy YOUR POST.

APRIL 2012

GREETINGS FROM THE COMMANDER

Greetings Comrades:

Can you believe the weather? Love it and enjoy.

I know all the talk is about the smoking ban, what is the VFW going to do? We don’t know yet, the bill has not been signed as of this writing. When the bill is signed it will be published and we will read to see what our requirements are. I have been reading on the internet and can find it written just about any way you want. Some say the VFW is exempt and some say we will have to go by the ban. We will see and keep all informed. Our membership as of this writing is at 90% and we need 51 members to pay their dues to obtain 100% this year. If you know of anyone please help and ask them to pay their dues. Thank you for your help! April will be final nominations and the election. In April you have to be there to accept nomination or a letter saying you will accept. As always, have a good month and enjoy

YOUR POST.

POPPY DAY

May is the month to salute and remember our Veterans. In honoring our Veterans, we will be holding our Buddy Poppy Day on Saturday, May 12th.

To do this we will need your help at some of our local businesses to pass out poppies and gather donations for 2 hours. There are sign-up sheets at the bar for the locations and times. Please help us with your support with this and together we will make this our best year yet.

Veterans,

As our fellow Comrades continue to pass on at an alarming rate, we need your help.Any honorably discharged veteran is guaranteed a military funeral.Included in the ceremony are the Prayer, Flag Folding, Rifle Salute and Taps. Some of the same volunteers have been doing this Ceremony for over 30 years. To continue the quality program we now provide we need volunteers. You may have a couple of hours invested, but the families are truly appreciative. The common sense requirements are pretty simple. You must be honorably discharged and be willing to dress appropriately at all times at the services.Interested veterans may feel free to talk to any Wayne County Honor Guard member or phone Jim Hall (765) 462-8532.

Thank you for your consideration.
