February and March Commanders Notes
The Arctic cold has gone away (We Hope) for the year and the entertainment committee is already making plans for the warmer weather.
We will soon be having our nominations for next year’s officers. If you are interested in holding a position in our post and not sure of what the responsibilities of the different offices are, feel free to ask Phil or myself for a description.
This month we will be having our first nominations for Post Officers. In April we will have our second Nomination and Election. If you are interested in becoming an officer “of the best Post in Indiana” or know of anyone that you think would be a good officer, please let one of our current officers know. We would be happy to explain what the responsibilities of each office are. Remember: the Post is only as good as its officers!
VFW Department of Indiana Spring Conference is this month. Conference will be at the Marriot East in Indy.
10th District Meeting will be held in Shelbyville on March 23rd. Post van will leave at noon if you would like a ride.
Big Thanks to the entertainment committee. They have made weekends a whole lot of fun at the Post. They are putting something special together for each month.
So as always: Remember to stop by and enjoy your post!

As the Government continues its base closings and other cutbacks, another promise to Veteran’s runs the risk of extinction, the Military funeral. Active duty personnel cannot possibly keep up with the alarming rate that Veterans are passing away. The only way that all of the Veterans will receive a proper Military service upon their demise is through the various volunteer groups such as the Wayne County Honor Guard. A proper service consists of 11 people. At this time of year, especially with
vacations, illness, etc., we are often left shorthanded. If anyone is
interested in helping us with our ceremonies, please contact Jim Hall at
God Bless Our Vets!

Third District VFW Of Ohio Hospitality House
What is the Third District Hospitality House?
The Hospitality House is a joint venture between the Dayton VA Medical Center and District 3 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. This is the first Hospitality House to be operated by a service organization which is actually located on the grounds of a VA Medical Center.
Due to the extensive primary service area of the VA Medical Center, Dayton, which includes 22 counties in Ohio and one county in Indiana, families must often drive long distances to visit their loved ones. In addition, the VA Medical Center is not situated in an area of Dayton that provides close access to hotels or motels. Therefore, this Hospitality House was developed to meet the distinct need to provide convenient, comfortable, affordable overnight accommodations to families of seriously ill patients.
We are proud to be able to offer such a unique service to our patients and their families.
Commander-In-Chief State Commander
William "Bill" Thein Greg Baker
